One of the concepts I like to talk about is how to get through the conversation red zone into the conversation end zone. In business, the red zone is when it’s decision time. It’s when you try to make a sale, get a referral, win additional business or gain agreement for action.
There are lots of games where an offense can move the ball up and down the field without much difficulty. But when they get to the red zone—it gets much harder. It’s the same in conversations. Most conversations flow easily until it’s time for your prospect or client to make a decision. Then, their defense tightens up and aims to stop you from getting in the end zone.
